Project Resource Mobilisation and Awareness (RMA) is a joint effort of Population Action International (PAI), the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and the German Foundation for World Population (DSW) that was built on the work plan of the Resource Mobilization and Awareness Working Group of the Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition (RHSC).
Through a targeted set of advocacy and awareness raising actions and linking of civil society networks in knowledge and action, the project seeks to create an environment conducive to political support and to secure increased financial resources for reproductive health supplies. Project RMA takes a three-tiered approach to effectively promote advocacy efforts and policy recommendations. Advocacy is engaged and enforced at the country, regional, and global levels and are coordinated by the different partner organizations.
Regional Level Advocacy
DSW works within Project RMA at the sub-regional level to engage regional bodies in reproductive health supplies advocacy. To this end, we are organising a set of sub regional meetings to promote awareness of reproductive health commodity security, engage regional bodies, and facilitate knowledge-sharing. The strategic approach is to work at regional level by linking with existing meetings, and alliances of strategic importance to strengthen their engagement in conducting advocacy for RH supplies. In 2007 and 2008, Project RMA has made significant progress in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Asia and Pacific regions by strengthening existing synergies with the national and global level activities. DSW has linked its activities with important meetings, such as the EARHN strategic meeting in December 2007 and the Partners in Population and Development (PPD) meeting with Ministers in September 2008.
